Tianmu's History

The Tianmu area is an neighborhood in the Shilin District of Taipei.There are mountains on the two sides of Tianmu and a river on the Southern border of Tianmu.In Tianmu,there are many parks and hiking trails.So Tianmu become the suburs of Taipei city.Many International Institutes are hore in Tianmu,such as TAS"Taipei American school",TES"Taipei Europen school",TJS"Taipei Japanese school" and the International Nation's Embassy.There are also 3 department store in Tianmu.The Water pipe trail of Taipei City is also in Tianmu, pumping water to Tianmu and the President's House.The trail is build when the Japanese ruled Taiwan.After the R.O.C. Gaverment came over,the US armed forces also had their living faciltties in Tianmu.

Where The Name From

When the japanese ruled Taiwan,they build a temple in the North of Taipei.It is called "Mother of the sky".After the Japanese left,the people use the name of the temple as the name of the local area. So "Tianmu" literally means "Mother of the sky".
